Hello everyone,
In my previous articles, I mentioned that health tourism in Turkey is still not sufficiently regulated in certain aspects, and unfortunately, these gaps can sometimes be exploited by individuals who are far from ethical standards and in some cases, even without a proper medical background.
Unfortunately, this situation may cause patients, especially in complex dental treatments that require experience and expertise, to face completely different and conflicting treatment plans.
The main purpose of writing this article is to provide guidance for patients who come to Antalya for dental health tourism or are considering doing so on how to distinguish the right treatment plan and the right clinic.
Because today, the same patient with the same oral condition may receive completely different treatment proposals, treatment plans, and even dramatically different prices from different clinics.
So why does this happen?
Which plan is correct and which one is incomplete?
How can you understand whether a treatment plan is truly suitable for you?
At this point, the determining factor is not only the price. The dentist’s experience, the clinic’s philosophy, the treatment protocols used, and most importantly, the logic behind the treatment plan are what truly matter.
In this article, I will briefly and clearly explain:
the difference between price oriented and treatment oriented approaches,
how to identify proper treatment planning,
and what you should pay attention to before starting treatment.
Because the right treatment is not the cheapest or the most expensive one it is the one that is most suitable for you.
Today, the main reason patients encounter incorrect treatment plans is often not the patient themselves, but the system surrounding them.
Many treatment plans are prepared based only on photographs or video consultations. However, without a proper clinical examination and detailed radiological evaluation, planning can easily lead to misdiagnosis and incorrect treatment approaches.
Naturally, every clinic or dentist tends to prioritize the treatments they are most experienced and confident in.
This is exactly where ETH Dental differentiates itself.
Thanks to our experienced multidisciplinary team and our strong in house laboratory infrastructure, we are capable of offering and successfully applying multiple treatment options.
Patients often compare implant counts, crown counts, or procedure costs, while overlooking the overall logic of the treatment plan.
However, a proper treatment plan is not about individual procedures it is about the harmony of the entire system.
Some clinics may pressure patients into making fast decisions through campaigns or time limited offers. This can lead to poorly evaluated decisions and incorrect treatment planning.
Every patient is different in dentistry. Therefore, an experienced dentist should move beyond standard package approaches and create customized treatment plans for each individual patient.
In most cases, the problem is not the patient it is the system itself.
Unfortunately, in some situations, treatment plans are shaped not according to the patient’s real needs, but according to the budget the patient can afford.
Of course, dental materials and treatments are costly, and economic factors cannot be completely ignored. However, the patient’s financial situation should never be the primary determinant of treatment planning.
Because proper planning is based on the patient’s needs not their budget.
Treatment planning shaped around budget
Some clinics operate with consultants or sales oriented teams between the patient and the dentist. When these teams lack sufficient clinical knowledge, planning becomes financially driven rather than health focused.
As a result, patients may receive treatments adjusted to their budget rather than treatments that are truly necessary.
Trying to perform maximum procedures with minimum cost
In this approach, the goal is to reduce costs and make treatment fit the patient’s budget. This often results in lower quality materials and may compromise long term treatment success.
Focus on short term solutions instead of long term success
Price oriented plans often focus on quickly solving the immediate problem and completing the process as fast as possible.
However, this approach may create the need for retreatment in the future.
In such treatment plans, the goal is not truly to treat the patient but simply to complete the case and close the process.
I explained this topic in detail in my previous article titled “Why ETH Dental.”
Here, I would like to summarize the main principles more simply.
A treatment oriented approach is based not on the patient’s budget, but on the patient’s actual needs.
First diagnosis then planning
At ETH Dental, before starting any treatment planning process, we aim to collect as much patient data as possible.
The goal is to establish the correct diagnosis and build the right treatment plan based on it.
The patient’s oral structure, bone levels, gum condition, and habits are carefully evaluated.
As a result:
unnecessary procedures are avoided,
prognosis is properly assessed,
and a long term successful roadmap is created.
No unnecessary procedures
In a treatment oriented approach, the goal is not to perform more procedures, but to perform the necessary procedures correctly and at the right time.
Alternatives are presented (implants / bridges / preservation, etc.)
Patients are not forced into a single solution.
Different treatment options are clearly explained together with their advantages and disadvantages.
Long term success is prioritized
Instead of short term fixes, treatment plans that can function successfully for many years are prioritized.
The goal is not to perform procedures the goal is to do what is right.
This is one of the most important sections of this article.
Below are five simple but powerful indicators that can help you evaluate whether the treatment plan you received is truly correct:
A good treatment plan is not limited to one single solution. Different alternatives are presented, and the final decision is left to the patient.
Every treatment has pros and cons. If these are not openly discussed, the treatment plan is incomplete.
A proper plan considers not only today, but also how the treatment will function 5–10 years from now.
A good dentist does not only explain the procedure they explain why that procedure is necessary.
Proper treatment planning gives the patient time to think.
Rushed decisions are rarely healthy decisions.
At ETH Dental, our approach to every patient and every case is clear:
first understand, then decide.
First analysis then decision
Before beginning treatment, we carefully evaluate:
oral structure,
bone condition,
gum health,
patient expectations,
and long term needs.
Sometimes not performing treatment is also an option
For us, not every consultation must end with a procedure.
If we believe a treatment will not genuinely benefit the patient, we openly say so.
Multidisciplinary evaluation
In complex cases, we combine perspectives from different specialties.
This allows decisions to be made holistically rather than from a single viewpoint.
Explaining all options transparently
We explain not only the treatment we recommend, but also:
alternatives,
advantages,
disadvantages,
and possible risks.
Long term planning prognosis
For us, what matters is not only how the treatment looks today, but how it will function years later.
At ETH Dental, the goal is not to sell treatment it is to recommend the right treatment, to the right patient, at the right time.
